The only other contender with Scrivener is this Open-Source Research Organiser called DOCEAR.

The only other contender with Scrivener is this Open-Source Research Organiser called DOCEAR. Essentially it'sa Mind Map program based on Freeplane in which you insert your research as nodes in the map, and later write your research paper usinga similar system.  May have uses, but when I last tried it it seemed mind bogglingly difficult to get used to.  I suspect that Scrivener can do similar things, but using its organiser instead of a mind map.

I found out what the problem was when running Sim on a Stick, what was causing the "Regions simonastick 1 and simonastick 1 have the same UUID" error.

. I had created a backup of RegionConfig.ini before making any changes. However I'd simply dragged the file in Win to make that backup, and it automatically named the copy  RegionConfig - Copy.ini. All very well but because they with BOTH .ini filmes, Sim on a Stick was loading EACH.

D'Oh! Luckily I found a comment by Hui Teki on this page which explained the error. Now I manually name the backup _RegionConfig.ini.bak_and it doesn't get loaded in error.

Have disposed of Scapple as being of much use.

Have disposed of Scapple as being of much use. It's a free form mind mapper but it doesn't export properly to Scrivener! I looked at something called SimpleMind which was cool (but cost), but FREEPLANE, which I already had, costs NOTHING, is quite versatile, and exports fine.

Just finished reading the Scrivener Tutorial.

Just finished reading the Scrivener Tutorial. An interesting organiser that doubles up as a word processor. I've used similar things before (like Keynote) but they always seemed incomplete. Scrivener looks like a bit more thoughts been put into designing it, in that you can have double panes - one you're writing to, and the other full of some sort of reference to help you do that.

Anyway, I discovered that it includes a COMIC TEMPLATE and this article explains how to use it. Will play more with it after I get the graphic novel sorted, and also look at Scrapple and Aeon Timeline.
