he NUC has now displaced the Studio PC on the main computer desk in the studio. Everything works and it's connected to my Homegroup. The old PC is now sitting on the smaller computer desk going to be salvaged for the drives, memory stick, and other hardware. I can't help but think of giant container ships being broken up by hand in Bangladesh.
I hope you still have a machine that runs Linux and connects to 3.5" disks.
ReplyDeleteI might.
ReplyDeleteThe problem I have had with your disks is that I don't have a machine to attach them to. I bought a USB disk mounter to read them but I've only ever been able to get that working with my Windows machines (My main Linux laptop has issues with many USB devices). If you still have a Linux desktop where they can be attached we can possibly do something with them in June. In the meantime I have an ITX machine which I bought about 3 years ago to load Linux on. If I find time to get back to commissioning that machine before June I'll have another go at reading the disks.
ReplyDeleteWell I could mark which port/connector is dodgey so that we don't use it, and remove the two drives that don't have Linux/Windows on them, there'd be one port for that drive, either way.
ReplyDeleteBut this is PC that killed the drive in the first place. I thought I tried swapping them over at first. Maybe I didn't.
