Installing my DiskStation Software.

Installing my DiskStation Software. I had an initial stumbling block when the unit wouldn't turn on. I was about to put a support ticket in, when I realised that plug to the power supply wasn't properly connected - D'OH!

  1. I feel this. I once returned a very expensive computer because it was set to 220 vac, when we are 110. The power supply output was correct, so it had to be the motherboard. Days later, the replacement had the same issue. Wut? Traced it back through the power good signal, which said power was bad, into the switcher, all the way back to the @$! switch. Doh!

Then there was the time a tech I had been training spent a half day trying to diagnose a huge Fairchild mainframe. I walked up, asked what was wrong, he spent a few minutes explaining how he traced a signal from the accumulator back to a bit on the short register bus that loaded an address from the long register bus backplane from the secondary rack in the IMU that indicated the giant 11-platter disk drive was offline. Beautiful work, I told him, correct in every detail. Except one. So I pushed the "Online" button on the disk.
