I can see this in part as a sensible move in that Open Source software is often more reliable, and easier to fix...

I can see this in part as a sensible move in that Open Source software is often more reliable, and easier to fix when there are issues. Also, if we're talking some form of Linux based software, it's often more secure and less prone to viruses. I'm willing to bet that the big driving force here is in saving $$$.
