The 10,000 hours?
According to this Scientific American article, "the techniques of deliberate practice are most applicable to "highly developed fields" such as chess, sports, and musical performance in which the rules of the domain are well established and passed on from generation to generation."
It has some interesting ideas about what creativity involves otherwise, though I don't agree with some of them. I know a lot of creative people, and the two most common factors I've observed is that they are either "driven", "damaged", or both.
