It's one of those "ball of clay" apps where you deform and add stuff to make things with.

I found this image while looking for "Traction Engines". My first reaction - influenced by this (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/95/Winsor_McCay_1920-10-03_Wheels_and_Cogs.JPG) Winsor McCay drawing - was "How big is the clock?!"

Godd heavens.
Godd heavens. I went looking for "Crane Rail profiles" on Google Images, and found... OpenBIM? It seems that this Opensource standard is supported by 150 applications, including FreeCad and Sketchuo (see http://www.buildingsmart-tech.org/implementation/implementations). And then (apparently) theres xBIM (see http://www.openbim.org/)!
This seems to be a hitherto unknown (to me at least) standard that might prove to be useful. If this is a standard for modelling architecture, it follows that there might be repositories of such models. I can see a use for realistic architectural models, in Second Life, OpenSim, Unity, et cetera. Of course some repositories are better than others, depending on how they're to be used. Sketchup models are often buggy when imported into SL or OS, because sometimes they are missing faces, or have extra meshes in places that don't need them.
But still.

"Celfuuu is an in-browser tool to create 3D models, then export them as a .dae collada file. Then you can load them in like blender/ sketchup, Secondlife / opensim grids, print them out in 3D. etc."
This runs on the web and makes strange spiral shapes and pulsating rings. I haven't found a use for it, yet. Go to http://celfuuu.pixel-lab.org/ to check it out.

I thought I'd revisit PixelLab's SculptyPaint utility, which creates various types of Sculpties for Second Life / OpenSimulator. I got it to work under processing (see previous post) and it has its uses! Yes, you can probably do all this in Blender, but sometimes a quirky specialized tool is way more fun to play around with!

"Processing is a flexible software sketchbook and a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology. There are tens of thousands of students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning and prototyping."
I've never heard of PROCESSING before. I came across it because I wanted to run a Sculpty utility called SculptyPainr93 (see https://elout.home.xs4all.nl/sculptpaint/index.html), and it won't run under the latest version of Java any more. And yes, the instructions at https://elout.home.xs4all.nl/sculptpaint/sculptypaint_processing.txt actually work!

"Digi-Comp, the first real binary computer, worked mechanically the same way as the giant computers of the 1960s, which work electrically. In fact, with the addition of many more parts, Digi-Comp could solve very large problems just as an electronic digital computer does. Coolest of all, these operations are all conducted by the action of marbles rolling down a slope, directed by mechanical switches and flip flops, all powered by gravity".
