well, now I have the Studio PC setup in the Studio again, I have the same problem with that I had before - it's extremely difficult to use it for internet stuff. Running applications like Photoshop, no problem, everything's very clear. Browse Facebook and some other sites and the highlighting seems back to front, and the text very unclear.

I have an AOC e2343F 23" and you either have to use the buttons on the base to change the settings (urg - very frustrating to use), or run something called i-Menu. Only the program version only allows you to change half the settings. Very odd. I had endless trouble with this when I was doing the Masters. I suppose I should think about swapping the monitors around, though this one has a larger resolution of 1920x1080.

  1. You should see the pile of crap I have sitting on the server in the garage. It's so old it has stickers on it from when our Zygotes were spawned. And that's OOOOOLD.

This sounds like driver issues. Got the video driver?

Your Win7 Aero settings might be fucking with you. Maybe try running a new score on Window Experience thingy, as it affects Aero. And run at the monitors real resolution only.

  2. I couldn't find the original driver disk, and it took ages to find the "driver" (three files, one an .inf) and the manual online. Then I discovered that I had those files in a directory  in a partition - forward planning? The i-menu too longer to find.  Photoshop says that the monitor's wrongly configured, so I might look into that.

I have been thinking of getting a graphics card for the Studio PC, and that might improve things, but there's no rush.

Oddly enough, AERO appears to be absent after the reinstall.

  3. Try refreshing the experience index. Then take the GPU out and run the fire hydrant test on it. That's where you light it on fire and wait for the fire department to see how rusty the fire hydrant is.

  4. What kind of slot does it have for a GPU? Is it AGP? PCI Express, hopefully? I have lots of spare GPUS at work.

  5. I'll check a bit later and get back to you.
