
Well, despite my frustration (due probably to the heat and the fact that my RecRoom PC 's Graphics Card might be playing up and causing the application to freeze) the developer of Leveller got back to me.
They've developed an Import plugin that assembles a heightfield from a tileset of heightfield files. In the image below, I saved the terrain from all 15 regions (in their own folder), made sure they were named properly, and the application loaded the lot in one go and constructed the heightfield seen below.
Woohoo. The next step is an export plugin that does the same in reverse. This could make life a lot easier when developing multi-region areas for OpenSimulator!
